A Wall That Won't Make Us Safer

The Washington Times zeroes in on the "terrorist loophole" in the Senate's immigration bill, which would prevent state and local police from making immigration-related arrests and impede cooperation between those agencies and federal law enforcement.

The Times notes that the "wall" is receiving closer attention after the hearings held last week by my Congressman, Ed Royce. My hat is off to the House Republicans and particularly my Congressman for not backing off on this issue despite pressure from the Senate, the White House, and the "mainstream" press. This member of the "conservative base" will be happy to support Mr. Royce again in November.

Nearly half a decade has passed since September 11th, and the Senate is back to operating with a September 10th mentality.
