Obama Is Not Inevitable

Members of the media are doing their best to convince the American public that an Obama landslide is inevitable.

However...the AP has the race even today, with 44 percent for Obama and 43 percent for McCain.

Yesterday the Battleground poll also had it even, 48% Obama versus 47% McCain.

Today's IBD/Tipp poll shows a tightening race. (Thursday Update: This poll has tightened further, to a one-point spread.)

Of course, it's going to come down to the states. Curiously, Governor Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania is begging the Obama campaign to come back.

At least two polls, Rasmussen and Mason-Dixon, have McCain pulling ahead in Florida.

McCain has also pulled ahead in Ohio in the Rasmussen poll.

If the media weren't so busy campaigning and covering up for Senator Obama and Senator Biden, this election wouldn't even be close.

In some ways no matter who wins- we lose.
If Obama wins- America has elected a socialist-leaning president.
Even if McCain wins, moderate/conservative politics barely will have eeked out a win. Which means either:
A. a lot of Americans don't have a problem with socialism now. (Most just don't understand)
b. Even more just want a handout
c. The politics of Identity has won over more followers.

This is, I feel, a direct- and I mean direct- result of liberalization of public education. Less history, less civics and government, and less economics taught in favor of multiculturalism, recycling, global warming etc means more young people do NOT have a proper foundation with which to make an informed decision.

The sad part is that until Gov. Palin was added to the ticket- we really didn't have a conservative running. And it wasn't until then that more conservative views were put on the table. It is then when McCain really started showing more in the numbers.
Imagine where we might be had a conservative been running from the get go.

I'm not giving up by any means, but it sure is a sad day in American when an inexperienced, unashamed socialist leaning liberal can be on the verge of winning.
Man I sure hope I can finally kick this pneumonia that I have had so I can get back to full strength and blogging again - and make sure I haven't been hulicinating about a plumber named Joe! Haha

J.C. is so right on. The educational system in this country has been brainwashing our non thinking kids for quite some time now, and it is now baring fruit (rotten fruit, but fruit non the less).

I feel like the media is trying to hand Obama the presidency on a silver platter. Get everyone all discouraged "Oh, Obamas going to win. The polls say so. So why should I bother voting?" :(

Increasingly, I have begun to expect and even rationalize the good that could come from an Obama win. I doubt whether this country can get righted again until we hit rock bottom and Obama and a Democratic House and Senate is just the thing to weigh us to that bottom mark.

Along the lines of what j.c. said, McCain will just be temporary relief (and not much at that)in that the tug-of-war between left and right that we have been losing for years and has brought us closer to the side of socialism.

An Obama win might just be the medicine we deserve; man it could be tough, but people of faith can survive it and we can emerge the better for it.

UNG, as you know I'm not a huge McCain fan, to put it mildly, but I believe that the changes by Obama and a Democratic Congress -- maybe 3 Supreme Court justices, and even greater moves toward Socialism -- would cause permanent, irreparable harm. Add to that the contrast between McCain and Obama in terms of keeping our country safe, and I can't rationalize any silver linings...

It's so interesting that the person who is really a big hit right now is the real conservative -- Governor Palin. I have hope that Palin, Jindal, and other conservatives will end up being the future of the Republican Party, rather than McCain's squishiness.

Irene, one of my greatest frustrations is exactly what you say -- the media trying to hand this to Obama on a silver platter. Republicans having to fight a war on two fronts -- against not only the other party, but the media -- is very disturbing. (Great example: Andrea Mitchell completely distorting Senator Biden's comments about Obama's election causing a crisis.)

Best wishes,
Laura

The problem with hitting bottom is what might get permanently enshrined into legislature. Look how hard it is to get rid of or even reform things such as Social Security now. Plus, Obama is buddies with Ayers, who I believe is a big force behind the liberalization of public education.

We need to educate people about socialism, and point out its current failures. True believers will never come around, but normal people might.

Horrible to say, but I must admit I've thunk it: McCain dies and Palin is President. Then we would be OK.

Hey, my wife is at an event right now meeting Rusty Humphries here in Modesto.

loophole, smart observations. Even if McCain gets in, we're still pushing the big rock uphill, he'll just ease the incline a tad.

Jindal and Palin are a most interesting consideration...
