Postscript: No, They Weren't

Back on March 5th I asked the question But Were They Region 2 DVDs? in reference to President Obama's gift to the British Prime Minister.

According to the British press, they were not Region 2 DVDs.

Prime Minister Brown was sent home with Region 1 DVDs, which are meant only to be played in the United States. Region 1 DVDs can only be played in Europe with a special "all-region" player, which the Prime Minister apparently does not own.

And yet I just lost a friend on Facebook for saying that our president made us look like idiots in front of the British and the Irish with that whole teleprompter incident. :(

Four more long years of this, eh? But hey, at least that Tim Geithner is doing a bang-up job!

I am neither American nor British, and this is not a political comment.

The Prime Minister should go out and buy himself an all-region DVD player. It is nothing special there. It will cost him less than the equivalent of fifty dollars. I am quite confident that he can afford it.

Mel, when I see some of the British shows that are available on Region 2 at Amazon.UK, but are still not out in the U.S., it makes *me* think about buying an all-region player! :)

Best wishes,
Laura
